Occupational Health Nurse Education

The University of Malta does not offer courses in Occupational Health Nursing and neither is the subject covered in the basic nursing training.

The University of Malta offers a two year part time diploma course in Social Studies (Occupational Health & Safety). This diploma is accredited by the Institution for Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) based in United Kingdom

The University of Malta offers a two year post graduate Master of Science in Public Health. The course is based on the membership examination of the Faculty of Public Health in the UK and covers the following: research methods including epidemiology and qualitative research, medical statistics, health information science, health promotion, organisation of health care systems and management, environmental health, sociology of illness, applied epidemiology, communicable and non-communicable diseases, social policy and health economics.

Several short courses in Health and Safety are offered by the Occupational Health & Safety Authority and also by private institutes but most are more ‘safety’ oriented rather than ‘health’ concerned. One particular Institute offers the NEBOSH International Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
