Exchange opportunities

Exchange opportunities for OHNs

Since 2014, funding for vocational education and training mobility across Europe has been provided through the Erasmus+ Programme, which replaced the earlier Leonardo da Vinci Programme (2007–2013).

Erasmus+ supports practical, transnational projects in the field of vocational education and training (VET), ranging from short individual placements abroad to large-scale cooperation between organisations across Europe. For occupational health nurses (OHNs) and the institutions that train and employ them, this can include:

  • Individual mobility placements — funded opportunities for professionals and trainees to spend time working, training, or job-shadowing at a partner organisation in another European country, gaining new clinical approaches, skills, and cross-border professional contacts.
  • Staff training and professional development — courses, workshops, and study visits abroad aimed at updating skills and exchanging best practice with peers in other countries.
  • Institutional partnerships (Cooperation Partnerships) — larger, multi-year projects between organisations in different countries, aimed at developing joint training materials, curricula, or quality standards in occupational health nursing.

Funding calls open annually, with strict deadlines (typically in February for individual mobility projects and in spring for larger cooperation partnerships), so early planning is recommended.

Organisations interested in taking part should contact their National Agency for Erasmus+, which manages applications and funding in each country.
