Walter De Caro

Walter de Caro has been serving as President of the CNAI Italian Nurses Association and Group Leader of Nursing Now Italy since the end of 2018. He is an Adjunct Professor in Nursing (specializing in Nursing Methodology, Nursing Informatics, and Medical Statistics) at Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He has completed a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management of Health Services, a Master’s in Social Research/Data Mining at Sapienza University of Rome, and a Ph.D. in Nursing Science from the University of L’Aquila. As a principal investigator, he leads several projects related to Social Media and Behavior Change and represents Italy in various European and international funded projects.
Additionally, he has supervised over 50 Bachelor’s and 35 Master’s students to completion, published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles, and presented over 100 oral presentations and posters at major international conferences. He has organized more than 100 conferences and congresses at national and international levels. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the indexed journal “Professioni Infermieristiche – European Journal of Nursing Science.”
He has served as a Senior Nurse at the Ministry of Defense, working in both clinical and management roles, including his position as Chief of the Nursing and Health Professions Area at the General Directorate of Military Health Services. He was also the nursing editor for Military Medicine Journal for several years. Presently, he works in the Office of Specialized Education, Innovation, and Technology. He is an international fellow at ECPD of Canterbury Christ Church University and is involved as a consultant at various levels in developing social policy, research, and planning related to data intelligence, health information, health literacy, scientometrics, and information governance.
