|Exhibition: The 1st OHN education course in Europe
Judith Fakkel, the President
of FOHNEU has visited two Exhibitions in Hungary: the Dr. Mária Baloghy's Memorial
Exhibition, and the Birth of Occupational Health Care of Customs Officers in
These newly launched permanent
exhibitions became a reality thanks to the enthusiasm of Dr. Henriett Éva Hirdi
who organised the project.
The first factory-nurse course was started in 1933 led by Dr. Mária Baloghy in
Budapest. As far as we know, with the exception of the UK, this was the first
documented OHN course in Europe.
This Exhibition intends to
commemorate Dr. Baloghy's merits to accomplishments which remain valid long decades
after her death. The exhibition covers the period from 1895 until her last
works in 1968. It consists of orginal certificates, books, newspapers and
photographs from 1930 to 1950.
The Ograniser hopes that visitors will not only enjoy the exhibition but also
learn more about the history of Occupational Health Nursing.
The exhibition's duration: 15 October 2016 - 15 February 2017
Venue: Museum of Hungarian Customs and Tax (19/B Munkácsy Mihály str., Budapest
The exhibition can be visited during the Museum's opening hours free of charge,
at the temporary exhibition room.
